This facility was designed to house the satellite communications test operations as well as the supportive environmental test laboratories for Raytheon’s C3I Division. It is located in a new facility at Raytheon’s Hager Pond site along Route 20 in Marlboro, MA.

The building was designed at the southern portion of the site so it can take advantage of tracking the satellites in the southern sky for test operations. This location allows for future expansion to the north of the site as part of an overall master plan for the site.

The project was designed as a “green building” utilizing state-of-the-art energy conserving techniques, including extra thick insulation, high efficiency HVAC systems, and special low energy windows. The design team also insured that many of the materials used in the construction are manufactured from recycled products. This was the third project in Massachusetts that received a LEED Certification. Michael Lencioni, of BSD, was the LEED Certified Professional on this project.

The building is a restricted access facility designed to the standards of The National Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
